School of Communication Studies
The School of Communication Studies offers bachelor's and master's degrees and participates in a college-wide doctoral degree program with majors in global, health, organizational, public, interpersonal, and applied communication. The school is nationally recognized for its scholarship and our students have received national recognition for their academic and professional accomplishments. The school has been recognized as Ohio's distinguished program in communication by the Ohio Communication Association of Ohio.
We take pride in a program that prepares our graduates in their careers. In 2012 our school will celebrate the 80-year anniversary of its establishment as a program at Kent State University, continuing a long tradition of scholarship.

• Organizational Communication
• Public Communication
Master of Arts in Communication Studies

Students in the M.A. program typically pursue one of three areas of study:
• Interpersonal Communication
• Mediated & Mass Communication
• Health Communication
Alternatively, students may craft a program of study that bridges traditional boundaries between interpersonal communication, mediated communication, and health communication.
Doctor of Philosophy in Communication & Information
The interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in College of Communication and Information is designed to prepare students for a lifetime of research and teaching as a college professor or for a career as a highly-trained communication or information specialist in an applied setting. The degree requires both comprehensive theoretical knowledge and methodological skills appropriate to a range of careers involving the generation, processing, and retrieval of information.
