Center for Research and Workplace Literacy (CRWL)
The Center for Research on Workplace Literacy (CRWL) aims to develop research-based understandings of the relations between literacy (including the technologies of literacy production) and the various types of work college graduates do. CRWL researchers believe that the findings of the research they conduct benefit the various workplaces studied and will ultimately benefit college educators responsible for preparing students to function effectively in workplaces. Whether narrowly conceived as reading and writing or broadly conceived to include other forms of graphic representation, literacy is central to much human activity. Literacy is especially important in work activity, particularly in the jobs and professions that people enter after completing college educations.
Services Provided:
CRWL focuses chiefly on research; the center was not established to provide "services" per se. Nevertheless, organizations and institutions in which CRWL research is carried out benefit from CRWL research findings.
